A pleasant experience in the Pavia’s Colleges!
Pavia is notoriously the city of colleges, a very rare socio-cultural context both for Italy and for the whole world.
It all began in 1429 when Cardinal Branda Castiglioni founded the college of the same name, which was then closed and reopened to this day.
In 1561 the Almo Collegio Borromeo was founded, the oldest college of merit in Italy! To follow, just 6 years later we find the Ghislieri founded by Pope Pius V, and to follow the Collegio Germainco Ungarico (now Collegio F.lli Cairoli), founded by Joseph II in 1781.
The remaining colleges date back to the 90s, a good part of the EDiSU ones were founded by Plinio Fraccaro, who has always believed in a fundamental role for the colleges in the city of Pavia.
